Immersed in the beautiful setting of the cloister of the Church of Sant’Agostino in Massa Marittima, the 57th edition of the Mineral and Fossil Show took place.
Massa Marittima represents the true heart of mineral collecting in Tuscany, thanks to its rich mining history and extraordinary geo-mineral heritage. For centuries, these hills were mined for pyrite, sulfides, and other minerals essential to industry. Today, little remains of that era — except for the precious memory that enthusiasts and locals alike strive to keep alive.
This year’s theme focused on fluorite from the Campiano Mine, a true gem of Tuscan mineralogy. The locality is known for producing some of the finest transparent fluorite specimens in Europe — pieces that can rival even the famous crystals from Dal’negorsk. Unfortunately, only a few specimens of such exceptional quality were ever found, and some of them were proudly exhibited here — an absolute marvel to behold.
